8 Campgrounds to View Fall Foliage

Fall foliage makes this season one of the most beautiful times of the year. But don't just gaze upon the autumn hues from your window; hike through brightly colored forests or fish along a fall shoreline at one of these scenic campgrounds.
Open Until: October 30
Located on the James River Arm, a tributary of Table Rock Lake, this spacious campground turns into a leaf peeper's dream in the fall months. Book a waterfront spot for a weekend of fishing, without leaving your site. Or, take a walk on the Table Rock Lakeshore Trail. This 2-mile hiking path provides splendid views of fall foliage.

Nestled in the foothills of New England's tallest peak, Mount Washington, this campground is as picturesque as it is charming. Stroll through the White Mountains, where fall foliage is at its peak. Try the Daniel Webster Scout Trail for a full day of exploring. Or, relax at the campsite, surrounded by unobstructed mountain views.

Panoramic views of the Bienville National Forest become more beautiful as fall sets in. Bring your camera to capture fall colors along a number of hiking paths including the Hollow Hill, Lakeview and Muscadine Trails. Keep your eyes peeled for land animals such as deer and unique birds, but don't forget your fishing pole to check out the water species, too.

Towering peaks and babbling mountain streams make this campground a peaceful getaway. Settled in the base of Dickey Knob, fall foliage surrounds campers. Dickey Knob Trail provides ample opportunity to become immersed in the autumn beauty, with views of Sugar Grove and Rye Valley all around.

Bull Shoals Lake and the Ozark Mountains make this a scenic campground all year round. However, fall foliage turns the lush green Arkansas wildness into a fire-red hue for your viewing pleasure. Unique to this campground are bald eagles; more 100 are seen flying overhead each year.

The Green Mountains are anything but green in the autumn months, providing some of the most memorable views of fall foliage in the whole country. This campground is located in the heart of the Green Mountains, surrounded by hardwood forests. Look for moose, white-tailed deer, loons and woodpeckers when you hike along the 16-mile West River Trail.

This unique and rustic campground is perfect for an active fall camping trip. Explore on foot with 10 miles of hiking trails that provide stunning views of Pea's Creek Canyon. Snap a few photos at Inspiration Point Overlook or Crow's Nest Overlook. Bring your bikes to explore on the Central State Park Bike Route or get back in the car and drive along the canyon drive, where some of the best fall foliage can be found.

This quiet campground is excellent for a relaxing weekend away. Fall fishing makes this an ideal spot for anglers. Located on Hold Lake, cast your line for crappie, bass, and catfish. Grab a waterfront campsite and wake up to gorgeous views of fall foliage reflecting in the water.
